“I am from Korea and I came here after finishing middle school in order to prepare for an American university.
I have faced many academic challenges over the last few years. Unlike my Korean friends who were doing more advanced math, I was sent back to restudy Algebra II. At first I was worried that I would appear weak to colleges. Wow, was I wrong. In fact, I would like to tell you that I have been accepted to 11 highly ranked universities, including Vanderbilt and have been offered several scholarships.
In Korea, math was one of my weaker subjects, the one that always pulled my grades down and was a constant source of frustration. After completing Algebra II, my basics were in solidly. During the last summer break, I went back to Korea to receive math tutoring to prepare for my SAT’s. I was intimidated at first because most of my friends were already taking calculus. However, the funny thing was, that they had totally forgotten their basic math and were constantly asking me for help!
Now, here’s the really good part: I not only ended up getting an 800, a perfect score, on my SAT math test, but I also got an 800 on the more advanced subject test, the test that “math jocks” take to impress colleges. There is no doubt in my mind that applying Study Technology in math and then doing extensive drilling were the reasons for my success.”
